Diamonds Thudufushi appoints Larize Nel as a new Marine Biologist


Diamonds Thudufushi Beach and Water Villas has welcomed a new marine biologist, Larize Nel from South Africa.

Having studied at the Nelson Mandela University, Larize holds a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology with a specialization in Marine Biology, a Master’s degree in Eco toxicology, and a PhD in Estuarine Fish. She has experience in working with penguins and whale sharks in South Africa, and was also a research diver for Marine Megafauna Foundation In Mozambique.

As a Marine Biologist in the resort, Larize will take over the coral regeneration project and participate in other marine biology initiatives at the resort.

Owned by PlanHotel Hospitality Group, Diamonds Thudufushi is located in the South Ari Atoll and is accessible by a 20-minute seaplane flight from the main Velana International Airport. The luxurious resort offers beachfront bungalows that feature a private veranda with a seating area and an outdoor shower. The over water villas have a large deck with direct access to the lagoon which gives a great experience to feel what’s it like to be on a vacation.

The wellness center offers Ayurveda treatments, while diving center provides an unforgettable underwater experience for guests.
