Iain McCormack, the new General Manager of Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi


The luxury hotel Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi recently announced the appointment of Iain McCormack as its new General Manager.

Bringing over 36 years of experience in the hospitality industry, the mountain of expertise Iain brings will be a valuable asset to the resort. He has successfully managed several luxury resorts around the world and worked with international hospitality companies such as Leading Hotels of the World and IHG. He was also the General Manager of Soneva Gili, now Gili Lankanfushi, from 2010 to 2013. His strong background comes from comprehensive knowledge in spheres ranging from sales and marketing to strategic planning to quality assurance and awareness. Additionally, he has extensive experience managing remote, diverse and complex properties in a variety of countries.

Prior to his appointment, Iain has been serving as the Global Group Director of the Karma Group, an award-winning international travel and lifestyle hospitality brand

During his time in Asia, Iain had served as the Consultant General Manager at Naman Retreat, in Danang Vietnam, and as the General Manager at InterContinental Danang, Vietnam, contributing to the resort’s multiple accolades.

In addition to Asia, the hotel management graduate of Southampton College has also worked in key leadership roles in hotels across the United Kingdom, including Gleneagles Hotel and The Metropole Hotel, and the Caribbean, including Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort.

Opened in 2017, 120-villa Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi is located in Shaviyani Atoll in North Maldives, boasting one of the country’s largest resort lagoons. The all-villa resort is ideal for couples and families, and features overwater private pool villas as well as luxury safari-style tented villas tucked into the island’s prolific jungle. The resort is accessible by a 50-minute domestic flight from Velana International Airport followed by a speedboat ride from Hanimaadhoo Airport to the resort. Alternatively, guests can book a 50-minute scenic seaplane flight directly to the resort.
