The Maldives Monetary Authority reported a 15% growth in tourism receipts in 2024 compared to the previous year, while the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority recorded an 8% increase in tourism-related government tax revenues during the same period.

In 2024, China emerged as the largest tourist market for the Maldives, contributing 260,940 visitors to the total.
