Vilamendhoo Island Resort and Spa Adopts New Waste Reduction Initiatives

Featured

Vilamendhoo Island Resort and Spa has adopted two new waste reduction initiatives to strengthen its commitment to environmental sustainability.

“This new initiative will reduce the negative impact on marine life by eliminating tens of thousands of single-use plastics, from entering the sea. Guests staying at Vilamendhoo will be more encouraged to support this cause by using eco-friendly alternatives,” an announcement by the resort read.

The effects of plastic on marine life are devastating. An estimated 8m metric tons of plastic waste enter the oceans each year. The problem is found in every known ecosystem and at every level of the food chain. If current marine pollution trends continue, the oceans will contain more plastic than fish by the year 2050.

Surrounded by a beautiful lagoon, an excellent house reef and long stretches of white, sandy beach - Vilamendhoo in South Ari Atoll is 900 meters long by 250 meters wide, about 55 acres. Your seaplane transfer from Velana International Airport is a scenic, 25-minute flight.

Featuring free WiFi and an outdoor swimming pool, Vilamendhoo Island Resort & Spa has a spa centre and a private beach area, and guests can enjoy a meal at the restaurant. Every room at this resort is air-conditioned and is fitted with a flat-screen TV. Certain rooms feature views of the sea or garden. All rooms include a private bathroom.

You will find a 24-hour front desk, babysitting service, hairdressers and gift shop at the property. You can play tennis, table tennis and billiards at this resort, and the area is popular for snorkeling.
