Malé, Maldives – STELCO has officially commenced cleaning and maintaining its distribution boxes in various streets of Malé as part of its new initiative, “Clean Environment – My Responsibility.” The initiative was inaugurated yesterday in a ceremony attended by STELCO’s Managing Director Hussain Fahmy, Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim, and Malé City Mayor Adam Azim.

As part of the initiative, STELCO will remove unwanted advertisements and materials posted on the company’s substations and street distribution boxes. The first step of the project took place yesterday with the removal of campaign posters and advertisements attached to the distribution box in front of the STELCO head office.

STELCO has stated that in addition to Malé, it also provides services to 35 islands, including Vilimale’ and Hulhumale’. The company plans to extend its cleaning efforts to substations and distribution boxes in these island communities as well.

The initiative comes in response to the accumulation of dirt, posters, and other materials from past electoral campaigns that have sullied the appearance of the electrical distribution boxes. STELCO emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean environment and ensuring that the company’s infrastructure remains in good condition.

This effort is expected to not only improve the aesthetic of the areas but also enhance the overall safety and functionality of the electrical infrastructure across the capital and the surrounding islands.
