Male’, 10 January 2025 – The Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) has officially announced the Maldives Travel Conference 2025, Women’s Edition, scheduled to take place on 25 January 2025 at Equator Village, S. Gan, Addu City. The event is being hosted in collaboration with several key partners and stakeholders to spotlight the role of women in tourism and address pressing societal issues.
The Women’s Edition of the conference is endorsed by prominent organizations, including the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Social and Family Development, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) / Visit Maldives, Addu City Council, and the National Hotels and Guesthouses Association of Maldives (NHGAM). It is further supported by women-focused groups such as Women in Management Maldives, Women on Board, Women Entrepreneurs Association Maldives, and the Association of Lady Entrepreneurs.
Highlights of the Conference
The conference will feature an all-female panel discussion focusing on:
- Opportunities for Women in Addu: Exploring employment avenues beyond resort-based roles.
- Combatting Societal Stigma: Tackling negative perceptions about women in the workforce.
In addition to these discussions, the conference, in collaboration with Business Center Corporation (BCC), will offer a Financial Literacy Training session for women. Registration for this free session is open via MATATO’s website until 20 January 2025.
Continuing the Women’s Edition Initiative
The Addu edition marks the continuation of MATATO’s Women’s Edition initiative, which was first launched in August 2024. This initiative aims to empower women by creating inclusive opportunities and fostering dialogue within the tourism sector. Following this event, future editions are planned for Thoddoo in May 2025 and Male’ in August 2025, in partnership with Hotel Jen Male’.
