MSA Cancels First Edition of Dhivehi Surf League 2025

The Maldives Surfing Association (MSA) has announced the cancellation of the first tournament of the Dhivehi Surf League for this year. The decision comes considering the current situation involving the host village, Gadhdhoo Council, a key supporter of the league.

In a statement, the MSA expressed regret over the cancellation but emphasized it hope to resume hosting the tournament in Gadhdhoo next year. The association praised Gadhdhoo Council for their unwavering support and assistance in previous tournaments, acknowledging their pivotal role in the success of the Dhivehi Surf League.

Despite this setback, the Dhivehi Surf League, established in 2022, will proceed this year with a reduced number of tournaments compared to previous years, which typically featured four or five events, including the renowned Rannamaari Challenge.

The MSA is actively working to finalize and announce a new venue and date for the league’s first tournament of the year. It remains committed to maintaining the spirit and continuity of the Dhivehi Surf League, ensuring its place as a highlight of Maldives’ surfing calendar.

Surfers and fans are encouraged to stay tuned for further updates from the MSA as they continue to adapt to the challenges and uphold the momentum of the Dhivehi Surf League.
