United Arab Emirates-based budget airline Air Arabia has announced that it will double its daily flights to the Maldives starting from October 2025, responding to a significant surge in travel demand to the island nation.
Currently operating one daily flight between Sharjah and Malé, Air Arabia will increase this to two daily flights, offering greater flexibility and convenience for tourists and Maldivians traveling between the two countries.
The airline cited the growing popularity of the Maldives as a premier travel destination, especially among Middle Eastern and European tourists, as the key reason behind the expansion. The move is expected to further boost tourism arrivals, strengthen connectivity, and support the Maldives’ post-pandemic economic recovery efforts.

A spokesperson for Air Arabia said: “The Maldives continues to be one of the most sought-after destinations in our network. Doubling the frequency allows us to better serve our customers and meet the rising demand while contributing to tourism growth in the Maldives.”
Local travel operators and hospitality industry stakeholders welcomed the announcement, highlighting the positive impact on hotel occupancy, tour bookings, and job creation in the tourism sector.
The Maldives, known for its white-sand beaches, luxury resorts, and vibrant marine life, has seen a steady increase in visitor numbers in 2025, with tourist arrivals projected to exceed 2 million by year-end.
