The Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) has announced the departure of its Chief Executive Officer, Aminath Suzan, who stepped down after a transformative tenure defined by innovation, inclusivity, and international acclaim.
MATATO and its Executive Board expressed their “deepest gratitude” to Suzan, hailing her leadership as a pivotal era for the association. During her time as CEO, Suzan drove groundbreaking initiatives that elevated MATATO’s profile both locally and globally. Key achievements include the Welcome India Roadshow, the inaugural Women’s Edition of the Maldives Travel Conference, and the introduction of MATATO Talks, Gadha Chef, and the Ramadan Quiz. She also spearheaded the rebranding of MATATO, unveiling a refreshed logo, a revamped website, and enhanced digital tools that significantly boosted the association’s visibility and engagement.
Under Suzan’s leadership, MATATO earned prestigious recognition, most notably the PATA Special Award, cementing its status as a leading voice in the global travel and tourism industry. The association praised her for fostering a culture of “unity, empowerment, and innovation,” which they say will continue to shape MATATO’s future.
In a heartfelt farewell message shared on Facebook, Suzan expressed gratitude for her time with the organization: “Thank you so much MATATO – PATA Maldives Chapter for the great opportunity. I enjoyed my time, and appreciate the guidance and support received by the entire Board of MATATO, especially the Association’s President Abdulla Ghiyas.”
As MATATO moves forward, the association remains committed to building on Suzan’s legacy of excellence and innovation in the Maldives’ vibrant tourism sector.
