Maldives hits its 1.8 million tourist arrival goal for 2023 today!

At 2:55 p.m., an Emirates flight from Dubai landed at the main Velana International Airport in the Maldives, welcoming the 1.8 millionth tourist. The Velana International Airport also hosted a ceremony to honor the momentous occasion.

There are 5,360 arrivals every day on average throughout the year.

So far this year, Russia has received the highest number of tourist arrivals, with 200,000 visitors. India came in second with 199,000, and China, the third-largest source market, had 183,000 so far this year.

By the end of this year, 1.8 million tourists were expected by the state budget for 2023, but the previous government later increased that estimate to 1.9 million. The goal is to bring in two million visitors the next year.
