Alia Investments Pvt Ltd has proudly announced the launch of its Boat Operators Training Program 2024, in collaboration with the Maldives Institute of Technology (MIT). This program is designed to equip boat captains with essential knowledge and skills for efficient operations and to prepare them for handling rare and unforeseen emergencies on board.
The 3-day training program, which includes both theoretical and practical sessions, was officially opened on August 6th at the Meerumaa Events venue. The training, held annually, is a joint effort between Alia Investments and MIT.
The program focuses on enhancing captains’ technical skills, particularly in vessel safety, security, first aid, and managing incidents that may arise during travel. Sessions cover maritime navigation, safety protocols, and emergency response procedures, such as handling fires or medical emergencies onboard. Additionally, the training includes outboard engine maintenance and troubleshooting.
This year’s program runs from August 6th to 8th, with 64 participants from various resorts, maritime service companies, and government institutions. The event also marked the inauguration of the 5th Yamaha Technical Training Program in the Maldives, organized by Alia Investments and Yamaha Technical Academy of Japan. Some classes are held at MIT, while others take place outside MIT at Alia Investments’ premises.
