The Arrival

Cruise Liner Magnifica Arrives in Maldives with 3,000 Passengers

The cruise ship Magnifica has arrived in the Maldives today, bringing 2,000 tourists and 1,000 crew members. The luxury liner docked in Malé as part of its international voyage and is scheduled to depart this evening.

The arrival of Magnifica comes amid a surge in tourist arrivals to the Maldives. According to the latest statistics, 593,956 tourists have visited the country so far this year, reflecting a 4% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

Notably, Chinese tourist arrivals have significantly increased, driven by the resumption of direct flights between the Maldives and China. So far, 70,000 Chinese tourists have visited the country, marking a 10% rise in arrivals from China.

With 2 million tourists visiting the Maldives in 2024, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration aims to attract 2.3 million visitors this year. The continued influx of cruise passengers and increased air connectivity position the Maldives well to achieve this ambitious target.

As the Maldives continues to welcome more tourists, the nation solidifies its standing as a top global travel destination, offering unparalleled luxury and natural beauty.
