Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Program – 16 Consecutive Years of Success

Dhiraagu has held the graduation ceremony for the participants of the Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Programme 2025, marking the successful completion of the programme for the 16th consecutive year. A total of 15 apprentices were awarded certificates upon successfully completing the programme at the ceremony.

The Chief Guest of the ceremony was the Minister of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development, Dr. Ali Haidar Ahmed. Special guests of the ceremony included heads of educational institutions, Dhiraagu board and senior management members.

Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Programme is the flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of the company, and the first such corporate apprenticeship programme introduced in the Maldives, which focuses on developing employability skills in Maldivian youth. The company has been conducting the programme since 2009 where a total of 312 youth has enrolled in the programme as of today.

During the ceremony, the company also welcomed the 17th batch of Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Programme where 25 apprentices enrolled in this year’s intake. Through a structured training programme, soft skills development training, and with the opportunity to work in multiple core business areas of Dhiraagu, the programme helps to provide the apprentices a key pathway towards a successful career. Apprentices can work in Male’ as well as various Dhiraagu Regional Operations Centers across the nation.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Guest, Minister of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development, Dr. Ali Haidar Ahmed, highlighted that the Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Programme has set an exemplary standard in providing vocational training over the past 17 years. Furthermore, he expressed his appreciation for Dhiraagu’s unwavering commitment and strategic initiatives aimed at nurturing the talents and skills of Maldivian youth, acknowledging their continuous efforts in producing a skilled workforce for the labor market.

Dhiraagu CEO & MD, Mr. Ismail Rasheed extended his congratulations to the graduates of 2025 and welcomed the new batch of apprentices joining this year. He emphasized that the primary objective of the Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Programme is to equip youth with essential professional experience, technical skills, and a strong foundation in work ethic. Furthermore, he expressed his hope that participants would leverage the knowledge and experience gained through the programme to advance their careers and achieve success.

Through the Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Programme, the company provides opportunities for youth to develop their skills through intense on-site training under the guidance of a highly qualified management team.
