Dhiraagu has joined forces with the Cancer Society of Maldives (CSM) to enhance awareness of childhood cancer. In collaboration, Dhiraagu is aiding CSM in the release of educational materials, including an animated song video series detailing the signs and symptoms of childhood cancer, narratives from survivors, a doctor-led video on early detection, and a specialized toolkit for educators and caregivers. This toolkit, designed to increase awareness of the challenges children face post-cancer treatment, was officially unveiled at a notable event organized by the Cancer Society of Maldives, in conjunction with Dhiraagu, UNICEF Maldives, and the Ministry of Education. The launch was graced by prominent figures such as Ms. Juwairiya Saeed, Chairperson of CSM, Dhiraagu’s CEO & MD Mr. Ismail Rasheed, UNICEF’s Deputy Representative to the Maldives Mr. Isy Faingold, and the Minister of State for Education Mr. Hussain Saeed Mohamed, as well as high-ranking officials, parents, caregivers, and educators.
The event underscored the toolkit’s significance for educators and caregivers, noting that while raising awareness and promoting early detection are crucial in combating childhood cancer, the post-diagnosis support is just as essential. The systems established by educators and caregivers provide children with the strength, confidence, and resilience needed to navigate their childhood amidst the adversities of cancer.
Dhiraagu, in partnership with UNICEF Maldives, conveyed profound gratitude to the Cancer Society of Maldives for their steadfast commitment to championing the cause of children impacted by cancer, thereby significantly impacting numerous families. Dhiraagu’s dedication to this initiative is in line with its CSR program, which emphasizes the inclusion and care of children as fundamental aspects. Through focusing on these critical issues, Dhiraagu aspires to cultivate a supportive community for affected children and their families.
