Facilitating Opportunities in the Tourism Sector for Persons with Disabilities

In a bid to empower Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and foster inclusivity, the Ministry of Tourism, under the government’s commitment, has unveiled a pioneering initiative. The Ministry of Social and Family Development, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, has launched a policy aimed at providing equal opportunities for individuals with disabilities, particularly in the realm of employment within the tourism sector.

The initiative, announced on March 17th, 2024, seeks to identify, and facilitate suitable employment opportunities for PWDs within tourism establishments. Recognizing the importance of inclusivity and diversity in society, the Ministry is actively gathering information on existing vacancies within the tourism industry that could be conducive to individuals with disabilities.

Employers and stakeholders within the tourism sector are urged to contribute to this noble cause by sharing details of any available vacancies suitable for PWDs through the provided online portal.

To ensure the success of this initiative and address any queries or concerns, the Ministry encourages direct engagement. Clarifications regarding the initiative can be sought by contacting the Ministry at +960 3022250 or via email at [email protected].

This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and creating a more accessible environment for all individuals, thereby further enhancing the Maldivian tourism industry. The Ministry extends its gratitude to all stakeholders for their continued support and contributions to this important endeavor.
