Fainu Airport Construction to Begin Soon: President Muizzu

Fainu (Raa Atoll), Maldives – President Mohammed Muizzu announced today that the agreement with Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) for the construction of Fainu Airport will be signed next month.

“The work on the airport will commence shortly after the agreement signing,” the President stated. He emphasized that the airport will be a significant catalyst for economic growth in the region, benefiting numerous villages.

“With the airport in place, we anticipate a surge in resort development, leading to increased employment opportunities,” President Muizzu said. He reiterated his campaign promise to boost the number of resorts in the region, highlighting the airport as a crucial step towards achieving this goal.

“I am optimistic about the timely completion of this airport. It fulfills a key promise I made during the presidential election to facilitate the development of numerous resorts in this area,” he added.

Currently, Ifuru is the only airport serving the Raa Atoll, leaving many villages yearning for improved air connectivity.

In addition to the airport project, President Muizzu also inaugurated the Fainu Water and Sewerage Project. He further outlined other development initiatives for Fainu, including upgrades to the health center, the construction of a football stadium, and the expansion of the port.

“The government will prioritize the wishes of the people,” the President assured. “All projects will be implemented in close consultation with the local community.”
