A group of chefs are representing Maldives at the ongoing ITB Berlin 2024 which is being held from 5th March until 7th March 2024. This event is the world’s leading travel trade show which is the perfect opportunity to showcase the culinary heritage of the Maldives. The famous travel trade show provides individuals and groups involved in the tourism industry with a unique opportunity to learn about the culinary delights of different countries and regions from around the globe.
The Maldivian chef team consists of two talented pastry chefs, Aminath Lahfa and Junaina Jamsheed led by the Executive Sous Chef Ibrahim Zuhair. The chef has worked in various establishments such as Soneva Jani, Siyam World, and Rangali Island. With him leading the next generation chef delegates of Maldives, the Maldivian live stall is guaranteed to deliver beyond expectations at the ITB Berlin convention.
Chef Zuhair, is an executive board member of the Chef’s guild of Maldives, which is the first non-profit making association for chefs in the Maldives. He has won various culinary accolades such as the silver medal in the International Individual Category at the 1st Indonesian Halal Chef Competition 2023. The chef has also achieved fourth place in the Black Bo category at the same convention proving the depth of his culinary knowledge.
A wide array of traditional Maldivian delicacies using authentic ingredients and ingenuous techniques will be exhibited at the Maldives stall. Live cooking demonstrations will also be held by the Maldivian team.
One of the special events at the ITB Berlin 2024 is the Maldivian Evening gala, organized by the visit Maldives brand and hosted by Maha Naseer who is a remarkable figure in the Maldivian culinary scene as well as a board member of MMPRC.
