By This Monday, Kaafu Himmafushi Council has announced a request for proposal to construct and operate a city hotel or guest house within the island. In a gazette circular, the Council announced that it will be leasing 52،107 hectares of land located near the island’s football courts for a period of 50 years.
Buying into the bid starts at MVR 25,000 starting from 24 June 2024 and is available only to either individual Maldivian citizens or to partnerships or companies registered in Maldives. While the bid awardee would be undertaking the construction and operation costs of the city hotel or Guest House, they are encouraged to send over the proposals and possible power of attorney documentations to the Himmafushi Council Office no later than 15 June at 13:00 in the afternoon.
Himmafushi is located in a prime tourist spot, just 16.4 kilometers (or a 30 minute speed boat ride) away from Velana International Airport.
