Indian Ocean Rim Association Business Conclave (IORA) opens for registrations

The Indian Ocean Indian Ocean Rim Association Business Conclave (IORA) is calling all interested participants to register. The event is hosted by its Chair from 2023 to 2025, the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Then Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid formalized Maldives membership in the IORA in 2019.

Representatives of the 23 member states including Maldives as well as 12 dialogue partners, individual and industry stakeholders and major corporations will all be descending upon Colombos Shangri-la hotel from May 28th to 29th this year.

Under the banner of this year’s theme, “Sustaining Growth – Bridging Horizons”, plenary sessions, a strategic networking reception, several sector-focused breakout sessions as well as B-2-B meetings will attempt to “…catalyze cross-border collaborations and unlock the immense potential of the Indian Ocean Rim region” – according to the The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

The areas of focus include emerging trends, disruptive technologies as well as sustainable practices within agriculture, renewable energy, ICT, logistics, SME and women’s empowerment, as well as Tourism.

We encourage stakeholders from all sectors across the region to participate in this landmark event, seize the opportunities it presents, and contribute towards sustaining growth and bridging horizons across the Indian Ocean Rim’,

Strategic partners include the Office for Sri Lanka and The Maldives, several Sri Lankan government institutions, as well as banks such as HSBC, Asian Development bank and the Australian Government.
