Speaking exclusively to the Press Trust of India (PTI) amidst the bustling atmosphere of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) fair in Dubai, Minister Faisal emphasized the Maldives’ unwavering commitment to prioritizing safety and security within its thriving tourism sector.
Highlighting India’s pivotal role as a key demographic, Minister Faisal articulated, “India, with its vast populace, stands as an indispensable market for Maldives’ tourism.” Despite ranking sixth in tourist arrivals last year, India remains a formidable player, having drawn in 44,000 visitors, constituting 5.5 percent of the total influx.
While acknowledging China’s current dominance in tourist numbers, with 87,000 arrivals this year alone, Minister Faisal remained resolute in the Maldives’ ambition, aiming to usher in a staggering two million tourists by year-end.
