By The Maldives ushered in the new year 2025 with a spectacular celebration featuring a drone show and fireworks at the Central Park. The festivities began at 8:00 PM with the Maldives Culture and Food Festival, organized by MMPRC, which showcased traditional Maldivian dances, Boduberu performances, and cultural presentations.
The festival featured various food stalls offering visitors a taste of traditional Maldivian cuisine. The food festival will continue tomorrow from 4 PM to 10 PM.
The highlight of the New Year celebrations was an innovative drone show, which depicted scenes representing the Maldives’ tourism industry, fishing heritage, and modern dance performances through choreographed drone formations in the night sky.
Lucky attendees selected through a raffle draw received various prizes during the festival.
Despite challenging weather conditions that somewhat affected the evening’s show, large crowds gathered at Central Park to participate in the celebrations. The new year countdown culminated in a five-minute fireworks display that began at 11:59 PM.
