By The Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives) represented the country in the ‘2024 Tropical Coastal City Tourism Event’ held in Sanya, Hainan, China, on September 4-5. The Bureau of Tourism, Culture, Radio, TV, and Sports of Sanya City and the Sanya Tourism Board hosted this important event, which was funded by the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA).
The Maldivian entourage consists of Chairperson of MMPRC, Mr. Abdulla Ghiyas Riyaz, and CEO and MD, Mr. Ibrahim Shiuree. Following the Thematic Sharing segment of the event, the Chairperson presented a riveting talk on “The Maldives Story & Innovative Tourism Marketing for Tropical Cities”. The speaker emphasized the Maldives’ distinctive features and presented MMPRC’s creative marketing strategies to promote the tropical vacation destination.
Shiuree, CEO and MD, participated in a panel discussion titled “Insight Sessions: International Tourism Marketing.” He spoke about crucial subjects such as collaboration between the public and private sectors, the significance of upgrading employees in the tourism sector, and diversifying the Maldives’ tourist offering to enable equitable distribution of tourism earnings across the country. “The success of our tourism industry depends on a unified vision between the public and private sectors in driving responsible tourism practices and sustainable growth,” CEO & MD Shiuree said at the panel discussion.
The 2024 Tropical Coastal City Tourism Event gave an excellent opportunity to share perspectives, interact with top executives, and investigate potential for environmentally conscious growth in tropical coastal locations. The program included seminars on environmentally conscious tourism, regional tourism, worldwide tourism effectiveness, and business matching.
