MPL Signs MOU to Develop Yacht Marina in Ha. Uligamu

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the development of a yacht marina in Ha. Uligamu. The agreement was signed by MPL CEO Mohamed Wajeeh Ibrahim and Uligamu Council President Ahmed Muaz Mohamed.

During the signing ceremony, Wajeeh announced that practical work on the yacht marina will begin this year and is expected to be completed within six months. The project aims to provide necessary facilities for yachts visiting the area.

MPL is currently developing a concept for the marina and is in talks with potential investors. Wajeeh also mentioned plans to establish offices for international banking services and maritime services in Ihavandhippolhu, which will also create new job opportunities.

Wajeeh highlighted that Uligamu has a long history of yacht visits, but the village lacks the necessary services for these vessels. Uligamu Council President Muaz noted that the development of a yacht marina has been a long-standing dream for the community, reflecting the village’s ongoing efforts to improve facilities for foreign vessels.
