By Malé, Maldives – April 2, 2025 – President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has departed for Liverpool, United Kingdom, to inaugurate a landmark tourism promotion campaign in collaboration with Liverpool Football Club. This initiative marks a significant step in strengthening the Maldives’ global tourism outreach, fostering new international partnerships.
The campaign, spearheaded by Visit Maldives, aims to leverage Liverpool FC’s vast global fanbase to promote the Maldives as a premier travel destination. The partnership aligns with the government’s commitment to innovative marketing strategies that expand the country’s tourism reach.
During his visit, President Muizzu will also engage in several key activities, including:
• Meeting Maldivian students in the UK, reinforcing the government’s commitment to the Maldivian diaspora.
• Visiting Liverpool FC’s AXA Training Centre, where he will observe best practices in football training and coaching.
• A visit to the University of Leeds and Leeds Town Hall, where he will meet with city officials and discuss avenues for collaboration.
The visit underscores the Maldives’ dedication to pioneering tourism promotion strategies and strengthening international relations. President Muizzu is expected to return to Malé on Saturday, April 5, 2025.
