President His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has departed for Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, at the invitation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud. The President will participate in the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit, which convenes to address the ongoing Israeli aggression in Palestinian territories and Lebanon.
Scheduled to deliver his address at the Summit on the afternoon of November 11, 2024, President Muizzu is expected to reinforce the Maldives’ unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. His remarks are anticipated to include calls for an immediate ceasefire, emphasizing the Maldives’ solidarity with Palestine and the urgent need to end hostilities impacting Gaza and other territories.
Upon his arrival at King Khalid International Airport, President Muizzu was warmly received by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, the Deputy Governor of the Riyadh Region, underscoring the close diplomatic ties between Saudi Arabia and the Maldives.
Throughout his presidency, Dr. Muizzu has consistently advocated for Palestine on various international platforms, aligning the Maldives’ foreign policy with a principled stance against the ongoing aggression and in favor of peace and justice in the region.
