During his visit to Mumbai today, President Muizzu emphasized that the Maldives’ stunning natural beauty makes it a perfect backdrop for the vibrant Indian film industry.
Speaking at a prestigious ceremony at The Taj Mahal Palace, President Muizzu declared, “I welcome the Bollywood industry to make the Maldives a film tourism destination. The unparalleled beauty of our islands, combined with the luxury and hospitality we offer, makes it the perfect location for cinematic storytelling.”
The Maldives has seen nearly 100,000 Indian tourists this year, with India already being one of the top ten source markets for visitors. President Muizzu highlighted that this invitation to Bollywood would strengthen the longstanding relationship between the two nations. By incorporating the Maldives’ breathtaking beaches, resorts, and unique culture into films, both Indian cinema and Maldivian tourism stand to benefit greatly.
For the fourth consecutive year, the Maldives has maintained its title as the world’s most popular tourist destination. “Indian tourists see the Maldives not just as a holiday destination but as a paradise where unforgettable memories are created,” President Muizzu added.
As part of the Maldives’ ongoing efforts to cater to Indian tourists, President Muizzu announced that the country is ready to enhance its offerings in eco-tourism, wellness tourism, conventions, meetings, and exhibitions tailored to Indian preferences.
Bollywood stars, including Shilpa Shetty, Arbaaz Khan, Sunny Kaushal, Sonakshi Sinha, and Karishma Kapoor, were present at the Mumbai event, lending their support to the initiative.
