Registration for this year’s highly anticipated Dhiraagu Road Race is now open. The race, scheduled to take place on the 25th of next month at Hulhumalé Central Park, will mark its 15th edition, featuring a range of categories including 5 kilometers, 10 kilometers, a half marathon, as well as newly introduced office and resort categories.
Aspiring participants can register through the official portal until the limit of 4,000 participants is reached. The event is renowned for its competitive spirit, with winners being awarded substantial prizes. This year, the total prize pool stands at an impressive MVR 256,000.
In a statement, Dhiraagu’s Director of Brand and Marketing Communications, Mohammed Mirash, highlighted the significance of the race as the largest in the Maldives, emphasizing its role in promoting a healthy lifestyle. This year’s race is dedicated to child protection, aiming to raise awareness and funds for NGOs working in this field.
Out of the 12 participating NGOs, five organizations that receive the most nominations will share a prize of MVR 200,000. Additionally, the registration fee of MVR 100 per participant and all proceeds from the sale of the special bib number will be donated equally to the endorsed NGOs.
The Dhiraagu Road Race remains a highlight of the Maldives’ sporting calendar, blending athleticism with community involvement and charitable giving.
