Seven Locations Removed from Tourism Lease List

The Ministry of Tourism and Environment has announced the removal of seven locations from the previously published list of islands, lands, and lagoons designated for tourism lease.

According to the latest notification, the changes come following a revision of the list last updated on May 30 under the rules governing the leasing of islands and lagoons for tourism development. The May 30 revision had increased the list to include 17 sites across various atolls, including one each in Haa Alif, Baa, Raa, Gaafu Alif, and Gaafu Dhaalu Atolls; two each in Laamu and Kaafu Atolls; and three each in Thaa and Laamu Atolls.

However, the Ministry stated that following further review, some of these locations have now been removed. The removed sites are:

  • K. Hithumiyyaah Falhu
  • K. Atholhu Thin Falheh
  • V. Atholhu Falheh
  • G. Beirumaau’doo
  • G. Raaverin Kohlihuthaa

The Ministry did not provide specific reasons for the removal of these locations but noted that the decision was made in accordance with existing regulations and administrative considerations.
