Sifainge Welfare Company Pte Ltd (SIWEC) has been awarded the contract to train STELCO employees in multiple fields, enhancing their skills in critical areas such as first aid, fire safety, security, and rescue operations.
The agreement was officially signed at a ceremony attended by STELCO Managing Director Hussain Fahmy and SIWEC Managing Director Colonel Ahmed Zubair. Speaking at the event, Fahmy highlighted the significance of training, citing recent incidents where STELCO employees successfully conducted rescue operations and thwarted security threats at company premises.
“We observed how these employees, who had undergone prior training, were able to act decisively in emergencies. Their preparedness is a testament to the effectiveness of such programs, which were initially conducted by the MNDF as part of a leadership training initiative,” Fahmy stated. He emphasized that the new training programs would not only enhance workplace safety but also contribute positively to employees’ personal lives and their service to the nation.
STELCO’s Human Resources and Training Department General Manager, Hussain Farhad, also spoke at the event, underlining the company’s commitment to fostering a strong workforce. “Our goal is to build a dedicated team that embodies sincerity, loyalty, hard work, courage, determination, and teamwork, all of which are essential to achieving our company’s vision and strategic objectives,” Farhad said.
As part of STELCO’s ongoing employee development efforts, 668 employees have already completed the Leadership Enhancement Programme. Under the newly signed agreement, the aim is to complete additional training programs before the end of the year.
The agreement covers training in the following areas:
- Basic First Aid
- Fire Awareness
- Industrial Fire Brigade Course
- Security Officer Training
- Swimming and Rescue
- Life Coaching
Additionally, SIWEC will assist STELCO in conducting fire evacuation drills and provide technical support in maintaining fire extinguishing systems at the company’s power plants.
The collaboration marks a significant step in enhancing STELCO employees’ capabilities, ensuring their preparedness for emergencies while strengthening the company’s commitment to safety and professional development.
