Sun Siyam Iru Fushi has combined forces with world-renowned charity, The Manta Trust in order to provide their guests all the best of conservation that the organization has to offer.
According to The Manta Trust, it was established in 2011 in the UK, and is made up of “…a diverse group of researchers, scientists, conservationists, educators and media experts; working together to share and promote knowledge and expertise”.
Guests staying with the 5-star luxury beach resort at Noonu Atoll can be assured safe encounters with these gentle giants during their adventures. The team at the resort as well as the Trust are working diligently to train staff in the knowledge and know-how of Manta conservation.
Guests can also take part in The Manta Trust’s “ID The Manta”’ initiative, which helps collect information on Mantas based on photographs submitted by tourists, the general public, Dive or Snorkel Instructors, and researchers. The resort has also committed to carrying out activities that directly support The Manta Trust, through community outreach, research participation as well as educational and awareness initiatives.
Resident Marine Biologist at Sun Siyam Iru Fushi, Caitlin Ruth Rentell noted, “We are thrilled to join forces with the Manta Trust in their mission to conserve manta rays and their habitats. At Sun Siyam Iru Fushi, we recognise the importance of preserving the marine environment for future generations, and this partnership underscores our ongoing commitment to sustainable practices.”
This new initiative sits well with Sun Siyam Iru Fushi’s commitment to sustainability and conservation.
