By In a significant development for the tourism sector of the Maldives, Abdulla Ghiyas, the President of the Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO), has been appointed as the new chairman of the Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC). Ghiyas takes over from Ms. Nurain Janah, the first government-appointed chairperson, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a commendable track record in the tourism industry.
As a leading figure at MATATO, Ghiyas has been instrumental in driving the organization’s mission forward. MATATO, an independent non-profit organization, engages in various activities including advocacy, training, recognition, familiarization trips, international trade shows, destination marketing, government lobbying, and whistleblowing. Under his leadership, MATATO has significantly contributed to the promotion and development of the Maldivian tourism sector.
